Gary Phillips

Director and Senior Designer

Gary is a licensed Building Practitioner Class D3 and an ADNZ Professional Member since 2004 when he formed Novare Architecture as a boutique practise.  

Gary has been involved with the NZ Building Industry since 1980, beginning with the design (and on-site construction) of energy efficient housing, using innovative passive solar heating and cooling methods, then evolving into the design of both traditional and contemporary residential and commercial structures across the full Architectural spectrum. He is passionate about improving the built environment, striving for superior design and client-focused service using expertise developed over the past 40 years.

Gary’s involvement in the construction process has given him a key understanding of the importance of achieving practical architectural solutions where budget is usually critical. 

Gary has had a long-standing interest in environmentally sustainable design and as an Eco design specialist, he is always researching the most modern technology to create spaces that are truly amazing to live in, to keep you and your family comfortable year-round in the New Zealand environment.
